York Vegan Festival promises to be a haven for those looking for inspiration or wanting to explore the nuances of a vegan lifestyle. If you’ve been searching for a dedicated vegan space where label-checking isn’t necessary, featuring a range of new products and delicious treats not found in supermarkets, this is the place to be.
The festival is running from 10.30am to 4.30pm on Saturday 17 February at Energise Leisure Centre, York, and will showcase everything a vegan might need, all under one roof. With free entry for children under 16, it’s a family-friendly event that caters to everyone.
The festival boasts over 60 fantastic stalls, featuring world food caterers, inspirational talks, and live demonstrations. From Soap Out Of The Garden’s plastic-free bathroom essentials to Ella’s Vegan Yorkshire Bakery’s Yorkshire pudding mixes, and Yorkshire Mushroom Emporium’s sustainably produced mushroom products, there’s something for everyone.
Charity on show
Aside from food and products, the festival also highlights charities and organisations committed to animal welfare. Ivy Dene Rabbit Rescue, a Leeds-based charity advocating for rabbits in need, and Miracle’s Mission, a non-profit organisation working with sick, injured, and difficult animals, will also be present. Bo’s Book, a cookbook supporting Miracle’s Mission, will be available for purchase, with profits contributing to the welfare of needy dogs.
Vegan Events UK, founded in 2017 with the aim of promoting veganism, uses its festivals as platforms for education. The goal is to showcase the ease, affordability, and health benefits of living a vegan lifestyle, while providing small and family-run businesses with an opportunity to promote and sell their products and services.
