norky_memorial_cross

This is a memorial cross to the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment on Marsden Moor. The Dukes were amalgamated into the Yorkshire Regiment, along with the Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire and the Green Howards in 2006. The stone structure in the background in one of the vents to Standedge Tunnel, the longest, deepest and highest canal tunnel in Britain. I hope this image of the manly Norcliffe physique does not provoke uncontrollable swooning among the ladies. A little swooning perhaps.
