In a delightful salute to the picturesque landscapes and vibrant culture of Yorkshire, local artist Josephine Dellow has unveiled her latest creation just in time for the festive season – A Very Yorkshire Colouring Book. Packed with iconic scenes from popular seaside destinations like Whitby and Scarborough to the serene beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, and the dynamic urban landscapes of Sheffield, Leeds, York, and Hull, the book promises to be a treat for locals and visitors alike.

Celebrating Yorkshire’s rich heritage

A proud Barnsley native, Josephine has long harboured the dream of encapsulating the essence of Yorkshire in a colouring book. Speaking about her latest venture, the 37-year-old illustrator, known for her work on the BBC’s Tiny Happy People, expressed her passion for the county, stating, “People from Yorkshire are always so proud of their heritage and love to shout about it. I love the county and how many beautiful places it has to visit in just one day – that’s why I thought it would work so well in a colouring book”.

Josephine has poured her heart into the project and when asked about her favourite pages, she revealed, “My favourite pages have to be the ones focused on coastal destinations because I am a huge fan of the Yorkshire seaside”.

The book not only captures the scenic beauty of Yorkshire but also pays homage to famous personalities hailing from the region. From Sheffield’s pioneering astronaut Helen Sharman and Olympian Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill to the illustrious Dame Judi Dench, who grew up near York, and the musical sensation Ed Sheeran from Halifax – the colouring book features an eclectic mix of Yorkshire’s finest.

A personal touch: artist’s inspiration and connection

Beyond the vibrant illustrations, what makes A Very Yorkshire Colouring Book truly special is the personal connection Josephine Dellow has with the county. As a Barnsley-born artist, her deep love for Yorkshire shines through each carefully crafted page. The book is not just a collection of images; it’s a personal journey through Josephine’s eyes, showcasing the places that have left an indelible mark on her creative soul.

Riding the adult colouring wave

Josephine’s timing couldn’t be more perfect, as the adult colouring trend continues to gain momentum. With an established reputation as a wellbeing hobby, adult colouring provides an avenue for people to disconnect from screens and the stresses of daily life. Josephine is optimistic that her book will evoke a sense of nostalgia and pride, stating, “I hope the book makes people remember how much they love Yorkshire, and how lucky we all are to live here”.

A journey through Yorkshire’s wonders

The book takes readers on a visual journey through Yorkshire’s wonders, featuring illustrations of World Heritage Site, Saltaire, the iconic Humber Bridge near Hull, and the artist’s home city of Sheffield. Each page offers an opportunity for individuals to add their creative touch, bringing to life the essence of Yorkshire through a kaleidoscope of colours.

Josephine’s previous colouring book, focusing on Sheffield, has been a resounding success, selling thousands of copies since its release five years ago. With the Yorkshire edition, she aims to capture the hearts and imaginations of an even wider audience.

A Very Yorkshire Colouring Book

Priced at £7, the first print run of the book is now available for purchase. Interested buyers can find copies at Curated Makers stores at York Designer Outlet and Meadowhall, Sheffield. Sheffield locals can also explore the book at Sheffield Makers shops at Hunter’s Bar and in the Winter Garden. For those who prefer online shopping, the book can be ordered from Josephine Dellow’s Etsy store.

Whether you’re a Yorkshire native, a proud transplant, or someone with a fondness for the region, A Very Yorkshire Colouring Book offers a unique opportunity to engage with the county’s rich history and breath-taking landscapes. As the festive season approaches, this vibrant creation by Josephine Dellow is not just a colouring book – it’s a celebration of Yorkshire’s enduring charm and a perfect Christmas gift for anyone who holds the White Rose County close to their heart.

Two wooden Adirondack chairs painted with the Canadian flag sit side by side at the end of a dock, facing out over a calm Muskoka lake in Ontario's cottage country. The red maple leaf stands out crisply against the white painted slats, while long shadows stretch across the warm wood planks. Still, mirror-like water reflects the forested shoreline that frames the lake under a soft blue summer sky. Shot from behind in a rear view, the two empty chairs invite the viewer to sit, relax, and take in the peaceful waterfront scene. With no people in the frame, the image captures the quiet beauty of Canadian cottage life, evoking tranquility, escape, and slow summer days at the lake. This patriotic Canada Day image suits travel and tourism, cottage and real estate marketing, lifestyle content, and summer long weekend campaigns. The flag-painted chairs make it especially well suited to Canada Day, July 1st, and national pride themes, as well as broader ideas of relaxation, leisure, and the idyllic Canadian lakeside lifestyle.
