Sitting outside this Sunday morning I am reminded
that evil passes and tyrants fall
my face and arms warm in the March sun
I can believe that Winter is past and gone
green shoots promise crocus, bluebells, change
they believe that Winter is past and gone
the blackbirds squabbling over territories and futures
believe that Winter is past and gone
a flock of tits hunting in the honeysuckle
believe that Winter is past and gone
the year’s first bumble queen is buzzing
believing that Winter is past and gone
the world keeps turning, turning, turning
I can believe that Winter is past and gone
and it’s time, it is beyond time for us
to believe that Winter is past and gone
to trust that better, brighter days will come
to believe that Winter is past and gone
yes, trust that better, brighter days will come
Winter is past. Winter is gone
