Richard Bentall

Richard Bentall is a professor of clinical psychology at the University of Sheffield. His work mostly focuses on severe mental illness and the mechanisms leading to symptoms such as hallucinations and delusions, the effectiveness of psychological treatments for people who are affected by them, and the social determinants of mental illness. Recently, he has also been conducting research on the psychology of political beliefs. He has written several books, most notably Madness Explained (Penguin, 2003).
