Marianne is a freelance historian and art historian, who grew up in Hull and studied at St Andrews. She was Doors Open Days/European Heritage Days co-ordinator for Scotland for three years and worked as a research assistant at the University of Glasgow. She is particularly interested in the use and abuse of history in the arts. She has written and lectured on subjects ranging from the Third Crusade to French Revolutionary portraiture.
