Born in Portugal, Kate trained in horticulture in the UK. She changed career when she found herself stranded with four children in her Wiltshire village. She successfully campaigned for an award winning flexible bus scheme in 1997, at first through Friends of the Earth then professionally. She retrained as a transport planner as a very mature student. Protecting the Stonehenge landscape from a devastating road scheme has been a running battle for the last 30 years, more recently through the Stonehenge Alliance representing Friends of the Earth South West.
