Kate Barker lives in Leeds. She studied acting at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, graduating in 2001. She then worked in corporate training as an actor, facilitator and simulated patient – specialising in communication training. After a chance conversation with a friend, Kate retrained and qualified as a Civil Funeral Celebrant in October 2015. She became a member of the Institute of Civil Funerals soon after. The ceremonies she leads are life-centred and – given her previous acting background – always very character driven. Kate believes passionately that every person is unique, therefore every funeral should be too.
